Description: Flooding is a recurring problem in Kansas. Flood mitigation in the mid-20th Century concentrated on structural prevention methods, such as federal reservoirs and watershed dams. The primary purpose of these reservoirs is flood control. Federally funded levees also provide a measure of structural flood protection.
