| Title: | Playa Lake Signup Incentive Program Application (2005) |
| Authors: | Kansas. Department of Wildlife and Parks |
| Issue Date: | 16-Mar-2005 |
| Description: | Playa lakes are naturally occurring
depressions found in western Great Plains including Kansas. Playa lakes flood in the spring and other wet period and are difficult to farm. The incentive program is used to encourage farmers to let the playas lay idle. The advantages of playa conservation programs are
providing habitat for many wildlife species such as migratory waterfowl and shorebirds and sandhill cranes, upland game birds, and
other game and non-game species. Playas
aid in recharge of groundwater supplies. |
