descriptionThe Kansas Higher Education Coordination Act created by S.B. 345 establishes a new State Board of Regents on July 1, 1999; transfers the supervision of community colleges, area vocational schools, technical colleges, and other postsecondary activities from the State Board of Education to the State Board of Regents; and, beginning in FY 2001, makes funding changes that affect community colleges, Washburn University, and the Regents institutions. The bill also makes the State Board of Regents responsible for the coordination of all postsecondary education, including Washburn University and the private colleges and universities.en
