Kansas Sentencing Commission--Prison Population Projections

The Kansas Sentencing Commission develops two separate prison population forecasts each fiscal year. The first forecasts the total number of prison beds needed by the state during a ten-year forecast period. The second, called the custody classification projection, the types of beds needed, such as maximum, medium-high, medium-low, minimum, special management, and unclassified. The first custody classification projection for the Dept. of Corrections was conducted 1999.
