Children and Families, Kansas Department for

The Kansas Department for Children and Families is responsible for child and adult protective services, adoption services, foster care support, child support services, welfare and food assistance programs, as well as services dedicated to vocational rehabilitation, among others.

The department was created through Executive Reorganization Order No. 41 issued by Governor Sam Brownback on Feb 6, 2012, and legislative approval establishing the Department on July 1, 2012 .
