| Title: | H.B. 2201 - Professional license sanctions for nonpayment of child support |
| Other Titles: | Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services Legislative Testimony (2009) SRS Legislative Testimony (2009) House Bill 2201- Professional license sanctions for nonpayment of child support |
| Authors: | Kansas. Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services DeBoer, Janis Kansas. Legislature. House of Representatives. Judiciary Committee |
| Issue Date: | 10-Feb-2009 |
| Description: | "Several years ago, the Legislature created a sanction against professional licenses that judges could apply when they found a parent in contempt of court for nonpayment of child support. HB 2201 will allow judges to use the same sanction in hearings that do not involve contempt of court, so long as the past due support totals more than $1,000. SRS believes this is a logical and moderate extension of
the court’s current authority." |
