descriptionTo further the message to children and families about the importance of summer reading, First Lady Stacy Parkinson partnered with Scholastic and the State Library of Kansas to donate 500 books to three Topeka schools today. The donation is part of Scholastic’s Summer Challenge which is aimed at encouraging children to read four or more books over the summer and prevent the “summer slide,” a loss in learning for students over the summer months.en
